WTB 1st edition Base Set Blastoise PSA 9

Hello,

I’m looking for a 1st edition base set Blastoise PSA 9. I would like the case to be relatively free of scratching and I prefer thick stamp, but I’m okay with either thick or thin stamp. I’m looking to pay $1200.

I’m also willing to buy a Shadowless base set PSA 10 Blastoise instead. Based on previous BGS 9.5 shadowless Blastoise sales, I’m looking to buy a PSA 10 Shadowless Blastoise at $1200 (shadowless not first edition PSA 10).

Thank you very much,

razz

FYI, PSA 10 Shadowless blastoise’s go for 2.5x what you are offering at the minimum. I sold one for 2700 about 4 months ago so I would imagine they go for at least 3k in the current environment.

Just so you know, you offer for a PSA 9 1st Blastoise is in the PSA 8 price range. I’m sure someone would unload an 8 for that price.

I think first Ed blastoise also go for a bit higher, I was just in the market for them and 1200 is a steal of a price. Shoot your shot though!

Thanks for the input everyone. I agree the PSA 10 shadowless Blastoise is probably higher (one went up for bid eBay), but the 1st edition PSA 9 Blastoise offer I think is solid. The last 4 to sell on eBay went for $1200-$1300 or were listed higher, but had the best offer accepted. My offer of $1200 is not based on the ones that have been sitting on eBay for months without selling. $1200 is a fair offer in my opinion. If anyone has a PSA 10 shadowless Blastoise they are interested in selling PM me a price.

Thank you very much,

razz

Just sold my PSA 9 1st Blastoise for $1700 for reference. Had 3 or 4 offers in the 1500-1600 range. You won’t find one for $1200 unless you dodge all the other people buying right now. Hope that helps.

What’s the BGS 9.5 sale you are referring to?

Because in case you don’t know, PSA 10 prices command much more of a premium than BGS 9.5 prices, especially when it comes to Pokemon.

Thank you cardguyz for the information on your sales.

Enlightened bulbasaur: I’m basing prices on the shadowless Blastoise BGS 9.5 that are currently being sold on eBay right now. There is very limited information on eBay for PSA 10 shadowless except one went for bidding at $2500. I realize that BGS 9.5 are not valued as high as PSA 10 for Pokémon, but with very little sales history available to me I threw out an offer. If you have a recommendation on where to more sales history please let me know.

Checking the buy section of these forms is another price point for the PSA 9 1st edition Blastoise at $1200. Admittedly, I did not check these forms for the psa 10 shadowless price point as I added on a whim.

Thank you very much,

razz

I sold a psa 10 shadowless stoise to a member on here around january time for $2800

Dazard, thank you for the price point on the shadowless PSA 10. That helps with knowing the price history.

In regards to the 1st edition Blastoise PSA 8 comment earlier. There have been 4 sold on eBay in the last month and a half right around $800 (The most recent 11 days ago).

Thank you very much,

razz

Yeah you can get a Psa 8 1st edition for that price but not a 9. Especially with how the market is now I wouldnt be surprised if a 9 sells for 2k soon. Honestly your offer would be solid about 2 months ago but so much has changed since then.

Thank you for you input Base-zet. Psa 8’s are going for $800 over the last month and a half according to eBay sales. Plus ya gotta minus ebays cut…

I have screenshots of PSA 9’s going for $1100-$1200 taken in January. A PSA 9 of $1325 on eBay on Feb. 25th and two best offer accepted earlier in February so yes that price is accurate 2 months ago. I haven’t seen anything sell on eBay since then. The last PSA 9 1st edition Blastoise I came across in these forms also went for $1200 in January. Others have commented in this thread they have sold for $1700 meaning the price of 1st edition PSA 9 Blastoise has increased by 42% over the last two months. When I see a couple of PSA 9’s SOLD on eBay for $1700-$2200 I’ll raise my offer, but until then $1200 is a fair price in my opinion.

Thank you very much,

Looking on ebay sold listings a PSA 9 sold in the UK on the 9th of April for £1600 around $2000

And another in the US for about the same price back in February

One in march for $1550:

Many cards prices have increased across the board these past few weeks this one included. This is currently around the rate it is selling on the market. I think people are saying correctly this is what it is selling for and you might struggle to find one at your price. If you are happy to be patient prices may change and potentially you could pick them up cheaper. At the moment I am sorry I feel like you are denying the market value and hoping someone will sell cheaply which on this forum I doubt. (Sorry if this sounds harsh its not meant to just trying to be realistic)

Fireftw: I have not looked nor seen U.K. sales so thank you for providing that. In February (last US sales I know of all together) there were also sales as shown below which is the only data I can find for US and an Australia one popped up. These include $1325, $1200, $2200 (best offer accepted), and $1578 (best offer accepted). I cannot see what the best offer accepted are for the two higher ones I have listed. Is there a way to do that?

If some folks want to argue against my offer of $1200 I don’t mind all the free bumps

Thank you very much,

They are not arguing against your offer, they are trying to help you get the card by giving you realistic advice on what the card currently fetches.

Let’s be real here. You’re asking way too low. Everybody here is telling you that in order to get the cards you want, you’re going to have to offer more. Recent ebay sold from 2 months ago doesn’t mean a whole lot because we’re in a bit of a boom right now and there is a lot of demand. You can argue it all you want but it won’t help you get the cards you want. People are just trying to help you out here.

If you want to increase your odds of getting the cards, you’re going to have to increase your offers. If you wanna stick at your prices, hey man kudos to you but unlikely anybody on this website will sell to you at this time. Maybe in the future if we see a decrease in prices which is possible.

Best of luck!

I understand recent eBay sold 2 months ago does not provide the best basis for now, but there have not been any sold in the US on eBay that I have seen since the 4 screenshots I just took and provided links for. Until Fireftw provided U.K. eBay sales I had not seen any go in that range. Yes, there are currently 1st edition PSA 9 Blastoise on sale on eBay right now for $1800-$2200 meaning they will take home roughly $1600-$2000 if they sell for there full amount after eBays cut, but these have been up for quite some time and haven’t sold so I will not base my price on those. I believe price and market discussion would have been the thread if I was looking for this. If anyone has a 1st edition PSA 9 Blastoise for sale they are welcome to make an offer on what they are willing to let it go for.

Thank you very much

$1,200 is just too low mate, take a look at this members buy thread who is offering $1,800 minimum for the 1st ed Blastoise PSA 9 and up to $2,200 for a strong 9. Also offering $2,800 for the PSA 10 Shadowless Blastoise.

One sold today on eBay for $1,550 today.

There’s also this one that sold for $1,950.

And this one that sold for $1,550.

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=254538131951

You have to go back to March 3rd to find an example that sold for below $1,550, when one sold for $1,425.

In late February it sold for $1,325.

We also have people in this thread saying that one was sold for $1,700 recently and there are people on this forum offering more than you are.

You can’t go back in time and pay yesterday’s prices when there has been a surge in demand.

Amazon shares are at nearly $2,400 now. A month ago they were at about $1,600 per share. If you want a share of Amazon right now it doesn’t do you much good to harp on March’s prices.

As someone else mentioned, this isn’t meant to be an attack on you, it’s just trying to get you to be realistic about your chances of acquiring one in this market with your current offer.

The one you mention selling for $1,950 is the same card that sold for $1,550 today. I reached out to the seller when I saw it sold for $1,950 & the sale fell through.

$1,200 is too low though - no doubt.
