I’m looking for 3x unweighted/unsearched unlimited base booster packs, willing to pay about $50 each. Shipping would be to The Netherlands if that would form any issue. One of each artwork would be cool (but nothing more than that) so I’m not willing to pay more for that.
Edit: Have already found them, and am no longer interested in more at this point in time.
He’s right. You can get lucky, but chances are most of them are weighed. It’s just too easy to do. Best bet is to find a listing with packs and check if the seller has a history selling cards. That’s one way to possibly get lucky. That and you could message them to see if they have a bunch, but it’s all a gamble.
I bought 430 dollars worth of weighed packs earlier in the year… Yea that sucked.
On the other hand, I bought 700 dollars in unweighed first edition fossil and unlimited base set packs another time. Sometimes you get lucky.
I’m in talks with a seller outside of this side, but I just start with three packs, it doesn’t guarantee much, but if there’s a holo pull among them then odds they are unweighted are higher. And grading the contents of three weighted packs wouldn’t bother me too much either, though it would be disappointing, the problem comes when you have way more weighted packs, then it’s no fun to get rid of the cards anymore. This seller is selling multiple boostermint copies of each Rare though, so that’s why I’m a bit more inclined to believe that it could be legit. Why sell boostermint rares if you’re weighing them?
You make some very valid deductions but the thing is, with only opening 3 packs and a lack of rapport with the seller, it would be incredibly difficult for you to determine whether or not the packs are weighted.
It’s a lose lose situation with loose packs especially when you’re expecting a holo inside, because there is only a few scenarios that can happen:
You open the pack and there is a holo in one of the packs. Either the seller missed one through weighting or they really do sell unweighted stuff. You still won’t know if the seller is legit or not.
You open the packs and there is no holo inside. The seller weighs the pack and you feel scammed.
You open the packs and there is no holo inside. The seller does not weigh the pack but you still feel scammed.
Unless you personally know the seller, you still won’t know their logic behind selling loose packs/booster mint rares.
You’re just going to have a bad time if you’re specifically expecting a holo. Honest sellers like gottaketchumall mentioned before how sometimes even honest, repeat customers who bought loose packs from him still thought they got weighted packs when they had a streak of getting nothing but non-holos in a bunch of packs, but in reality, they just got very unlucky. This is from the customer buying 36 loose packs from him and get only 1 full art. Source: www.elitefourum.com/t/roaring-skies-reprint/15408/65
With your odds, you basically have a 33% genuine chance of pulling a holo, which is already not looking great.
I have 3x packs, one of each artwork that I have been keeping in my sealed collection for a few years. I cannot ensure they havn’t been weighed though and I won’t weigh them to find out.
Let me know if you still are interested.
Will be shipping from sweden so you won’t get hit with customs
Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately I forgot to mention that I’ve already found them and am not planning to buy more at this point in time. For reference, the ones I bought did not contain a holo, whether they are weighed or not I don’t know, but I’m not going to touch boosters right now.
Teehee - i have a true unweighed base unlimted booster pack plus a fossil one as well. My stepmother found them hidden away in a drawer last nov, been hidden for almost 20 years! I havnt the heart to open them… at least not without knowing anything about a weight test.
