Let me know your thoughts on if the offers are off the mark, especially Chansey. It’s a little difficult to gauge some prices given the current market volatility. Thanks guys
No worries, I’d be cautious offering more than 3x the price if a PSA 9 unlimited ($2100). I know the last one sold for $2525 but I think that’s a $2200 card max right now especially off of ebay.
Out of curiosity why does the price of the unlimited psa 9 have any affect on the shadowless psa 9? A few months ago the unlimited was 300 and the shadowless was 1200 so shouldn’t he be offering 4x if they scale the same?
Since the market explosion the 2 have pretty much stayed in line with that ratio, so if one starts moving and you want to know what the other is going to move like you can pay attention to that ratio more or less.I feel the unlimited zard may be losing steam so who knows if that will hold true soon. They are free to pay whatever they want, but personally I’m super cautious now at these levels.
I would happily pay more than 3x the amount to get shadowless, which would apply to any base holo not just charizard. The base charizard alone has 7x the pop in psa 9.
Using Unlimited as a price basis for Shadowless makes little sense. Only the Shadowless cards were from the original print run. The Shadowless cards are far rarer. The Shadowless cards have the original colors and text. I see all that as much greater than the difference between 1st edition and Unlimited cards (not counting Base Set). And there’s no evidence of a historical pattern that the price of Unlimited and Shadowless stays in the same proportion to one another (obviously the prices generally increase/decrease together).
I subscribe to this line of thinking. At the end of the day if you want to tether the values to one another somehow you’re coming up with an artificial number to do it with. Historically they may be an average of 3:1 (even that going back is not always true). Some people say that Unlimited was printed about 8 times more than Shadowless, should 8:1 be the set ratio? There could be patterns but a pattern always works until it doesn’t anymore. Shadowless is a unique and strange middle ground between 1st Base and Unlimited (only comparison could maybe be Jungle No Symbol?) so this is its own animal and hard to define. I also agree that the Shadowless template is sick and is worth it over Unlimited even if they were equal in rarity because the colors on some cards (especially Venusaur) are just so much better.
Positions: roughly half complete Shadowless 9 holo set… me putting my money where my mouth is or trying to keep my collection value afloat? lol
Shadowless interest is high as with all Base Set currently. Prices seem to be on the uptick and creeping higher.
Be prepared to spend $2500 or more for a Chansey now. I wouldn’t consider selling another for anything less than $3000.
If you stalk Ebay for a few months maybe one will show up from someone who undervalues it but that’s a long shot.
Best of luck to you. Be patient and stay focused.
I just got a new Alakazam, Clefairy, and Zapdos back from PSA this week (shadowless PSA9), but my listing prices will be a bit higher. I’ll be adding them along with other cards to eBay this weekend.
wow. even shadowless prices are getting up there! really need to get all my cards graded and cash in lol. any advice on what is the best way to get them graded? what kind of insurance etc? I have 2 full set of 1st ed. stamped basic set i want to get graded, the big cards anyway. plus a mix of 1st. ed., shadowless and unlimited from basic set… around 50 holos i wanted to get graded. plus around 50 1st ed. jungle holos. thanks in advance.
Mike! I just responded to you on another post haha.
I’d send them into PSA yourself (if you want PSA that is). Always always always send registered mail via USPS if you have 1st Ed Zards in good or better condition. If you have 1st ed holos in Lightly Played or better condition that is about 10k in value alone. Submitting to PSA is very easy. Time consuming, but easy.
thanks for the reply. I was thinking about going thru ZandGEmporium, any thought on that?. All my cards are excellent or better since they went from pack to sleeves to binder.
@mikeng11 ,
To be honest I just can’t give you the scoop on that. I can’t speak for something I haven’t done myself. Those guys on that original thread you made gave you some thumbs up about them. They are a recognized name. I’d be willing to bet they are reliable based on my awareness of them. I know they are good about selling loose packs from booster boxes guaranteed heavy and it coming through well for people. I’ve heard good stories. I was just saying I personally would submit them myself for many reasons. The thing for me is, as a priority, the idea of reducing the amount of time and quantity of mail shipments is very important to me. I stressed the hell out shipping my collection even once. I had the same set you had. Registered, fully insured. Still bugged out. You’d have to do that once to your 3rd party, again from them to PSA or whatever grader, then back. So it isn’t whether they are trustworthy to me, it is more about safety shipping. Maybe go back to that other thread and see what those guys think. Submitting to PSA yourself is super easy. But Z&G are names I know to be trustworthy for what it’s worth. But as for experience or any detail, I’ve got nothing I can tell you about them.
