Zukan Carddass/Non TCG Set Assistance!

Hello lovelies!

I hope everyone here is good! So for anyone who may have missed the previous posts i had commented in we have been working very hard to get some information out there about some lesser known sets! Sylvia, my mother, who has been running her business since 2008 and collecting since the late 90s has an insane collection of cards. Using the sets she has collected I have compiled information and put as much as I have had time to do on her website and YouTube channel, I will leave a link below, so far we have covered the Bandai Zukan Sets up until 2005. The 2005 Meiji Lenticular Set, Pokemon Channel Nice Card Set among others! We pride ourselves in helping to get that information out there for the community and hope that it will help some people with their collections

We would also like to know what sets is any you guys would like more information on?! If we have them we will do our best to get it out there

Have a great day everyone :heart_hands:

Very useful information so far! Pretty cool to see the whole Channel Nice set (the packs and box too!), and I’m sure your Zukan lists will be informative for many people. Your mom seems to have an awesome collection, and I’m glad the both of you took the time to put together resources for the community :slightly_smiling_face:

I have been working on an article for the Topsun/Top VS sets (see here). If your mom has collected these sets, I’d be happy if we could chat to see if the two of you have additional information to confirm or clear up some things with.

Unfortunately mother didn’t collect these sets but may definitely be able to help if you’re after what ones are missing, we have a lot here so possibly can fill some gaps for you!
You can always drop her a message on insta, she is very busy so may be a slower reply but I’m sure she will get back to you

I’m sure you will appreciate! One of my most prized cards my mother gifted me :heart_hands:

Sounds good! I’ll shoot her a message if I run into any big roadblocks like missing cards.

The Deoxys vs Charizard holo is awesome! I just discovered a few holos for that set just last week. I like the color of the border, and I’m sure the glitter holo effect is great.

First of all, amazing collection. It was so much fun looking at it all and can’t wait to see what else your and your mom have.

I’d love to see if your mom has information on any of these sets I’m working on. I have a general idea on what they are, but the hard part has been finding a setlist and figure out what im missing :smiling_face_with_tear:

Thanks to you and your mom for sharing your knowledge 🙌

I haven’t seen most of these items before. They’re pretty neat! I like the little plastic cards with the two pokeballs the most :slightly_smiling_face:

  1. I don’t know what product this is from. Here are the ones I’ve seen previously listed:

  1. Don’t know.

  2. Again, I don’t know what product this is from. Here’s a bunch up for sale though, for forming your own list. Note rayquaza appears to be cut from a box.

  1. That’s Item 177 (#3 in the set (ポケモンシールキャンディ)) as can be seen in my post 1996-2009 : Bandai ‘Candy’ Products.

  1. Those are some of the prize cards for Pikachu’s Great Surfing Adventure ( ピカチュウのなみのり大冒険) . There are listings around, although I haven’t seen a checklist.

@Captain_Corsola Ohh, if those are what #1 is from, I think I saw them on nidokingdom’s instagram recently, so he should be able to clarify. I think I remember him calling them Meiji milk stickers or something.

Hello here’s the all the info I have on these (inline)

They are prize cards by Banpresto, but I don’t think that’s their name, there were other prize cards by Banpresto.

For example, in 2007 the arcade machines were allegedly being restocked with these ( I don’t know how many exist):

The originals were said to be released around 2000.

PSA has graded a single copy of the Class A License (special card). I didn’t redact the information, but it was easy enough to find.

There’s an interesting little blog entry about the arcade game, written in 2014.

“Pikachu’s Big Surfing Adventure - Riding on Lapras” by Banpresto, circa 2000

This is a Pokemon amusement arcade machine that likely appeared around 2000. It’s essentially a modified driving game where you progress through the course riding on a Lapras. Given the timing, it probably includes Gold and Silver Pokemon, but you can feel the influence of the Orange Islands arc. On the front, Pikachu is flanked by the second-generation starters Chikorita and Cyndaquil, but oddly enough, despite the “surfing adventure” title, the water Pokemon Totodile is missing, which is quite amusing ^q^

This time, the location is a game corner called “Sun Marche” in Sun Street Kameido. Just looking at it, you can see many machines that feel left behind by time, which is exciting! (?) While there are plenty of Yo-kai Watch related prizes in the UFO catchers, there are only a few medal games. They seem like they’d get boring quickly.

Oh, on the right is “Medal Panic Series: Shuffle Gakuen,” which seems quite rare. Recently, a manga of the same name started in Monthly Shonen Champion, but it’s probably unrelated ( ´∀`) Due to long-term deterioration from being left outside, the explanation is hard to read, but essentially it’s a card game, or more specifically, a concentration game. The story is about finding the culprit who stole children’s cards within the school.

Now for the main topic, Sammy’s product “Pikachu’s Big Surfing Adventure.” It’s a game where you control Pikachu riding on Lapras to collect Poke Balls. By the way, if you collect 30 points or more, you can get a special card. I kind of want one. You turn the handle in front to control Lapras and pick up Monster Balls. If you hit a Voltorb or crash into the shore outside the course, you lose time. It really is a driving game! I think it’s a great idea to do this with Pokemon.

Since we’re here, I decided to try playing it. It starts with a 100 yen coin! Inside the handle are Monster Balls that rattle when you turn it. The surface is also embossed in the shape of Pikachu, making it quite cute ^^ The figures inside are also well-made, they look like soft vinyl but I’m not sure. The course uses a winding mechanism, and various Pokemon appear one after another, making it surprisingly fun. Whether you can leisurely observe all this while playing depends on the player’s skill (`・ω・´)

I challenged it and got 43 points. The judgment is quite strict and difficult ( ゚д゚) Since it’s over 30 points, I can get a card, but for an even higher score, probably over 50 points, you can get an “A-class License Certificate Card.” They’re quite particular about it. But unfortunately, this machine had run out of Pokemon cards! Well, that’s to be expected… it can’t be helped… it’s a machine from over 10 years ago. Instead, I got a Doraemon card, but oddly enough, the sample displayed was from Yu-Gi-Oh. Looking closely, it was “Dark Sea Rescue,” I see, they’re playing on words with “Dozaemon” (eh)

I think there used to be one at Funabashi LaLaport too, but I wonder if it’s gone now? Although we don’t see them as much recently, there were quite a variety of Pokemon amusement machines released. If I find any more surviving ones somewhere, I’d like to introduce them!

I’ve seen one release from that line, but it seemed much earlier than these were released. That’s a good mention though.

Ah yes I know there’s loads of Banpresto prize cards, I found these ones also, called Banpresto “Kinen” prize cards like this meowth,

but I wonder if these came with plushes or not

Just to add regarding that special card in the last post, I ran a translation on the text:

Top: The title in Japanese reads “ピカチュウのなみのり大冒険” which translates to “Pikachu’s Great Surfing Adventure”. Below that, it says “A級ライセンス” which means “Class A License”.

Bottom: The top of this card says “A級ライセンス認定証” which means “Class A License Certificate”.

The main text reads: “キミは なみのり大冒険 がとっても じょうずなのでA級に認定 します。おめでとう!”

This translates to: “You are very good at the Great Surfing Adventure, so you are certified as Class A. Congratulations!”

The cards you mention, from my records is one of the Commemorative Cards of 2000. At the bottom of the card, with the crowns, it says “きねんカード” (Kinen Kādo), which translates to “Commemorative Card” or “Memorial Card”.

I have a bunch of listings saved, but haven’t done a full deep dive.

These are some of them:

I don’t think they came with plushies. They probably just commemorate winning a game.

Thank you! Those in your pictures are actually mine

Good to know, it looks like I have some that the Japanese seller is missing, so will continue digging into these haha

oh my, that list of Bandai products is a godsend. Thank you for compiling all of that data and translating. Super useful resource that I’ll be looking at all day. It looks like I have all of these as well, there are some I’ve seen that aren’t on that set list, so I wonder if there were other series for these stickers

Yup, that’s the same info I have, but thanks again for looking. I’ll add my set lists here so people can compare. I’m missing a few for these arcade cards including one I haven’t seen before

Pokémon Needs

This is great! I’ve given up on getting these as the prices have gotten a bit too crazy, but good to know what they are called and some more pictures of them. I see a Corsola on the back of one. :smiling_face_with_tear:

Do you happen to have #8? From what I read, there are 32, so I’d be missing #8 and that’s it

Hahaha yes, finding them with borders has been a giant pain. I was thinking McDonalds too due to the M on Monsters :joy:

If you check out the sheet I added in the response above, you’ll be able to finish the rest of the set list. I can provide photos for any you might need. Looks like you haven’t seen #16 either, lol

I believe these are from Nissui. I bought a large lot a few years back, but am still missing a handful (or what I hope is just a handful) I’ll keep digging into these as well

Aww, bummer. The Hoppip one is cute. Fun to be learning about these sets though!

Hello, these have Japan Fresh Foods Co. Ltd written in their packs or bags or whatever you call them. This company is fully owned by All Nippon Airways, so therefore knowing ANA’s history with Pokemon my guess is that it was a limited promotion by ANA sometime during the advance gen era.
