These are people that don’t belong on the blacklist but who act in ways that put you in a bad place if they are allowed to engage with your auctions. I had so many piss poor interactions on my last set of auctions that I wanted to just make a list of bad eBay users and anyone that cares to can throw them on their block list to potentially avoid a little bit of extra bullshit in the future.

guidomarg - Immediately cancels after auction ends because they “changed their mind about the price”
anttur1817 - Abusive messages when told I can’t tell GSP to cover his import duties

I’m sure I’ll be back with more, but I specifically wanted a thread where you can just give the quick and easy description of stupid ebay people and make everyone’s selling experience a little easier.

New Block Recommendation

Non-paying buyer. Has feedback that another seller left with the same issue. Doesn’t respond to messages.

This is pathetic. Once you both start insulting each other, the argument has become personal and is no longer about the eBay sale. eBay has a policy for dealing with non-paying buyers and although it takes six days and isn’t the most effective, it’s still their policy and should be followed.

Can’t we establish rules for when a block is necessary? Keep personal rage out of this.

I can completely understand your frustration with non-paying buyers especially in your case where you have auctions planned out. eBay needs to have a better way to handle the situation. I’ve been pissed about this same scenario many times as well. But once it become a personal argument and not about the sale, you lost me. Part of it was the buyer’s fault as well.

Just playing devils advocate here… Do you usually cancel before 48 hour window or was it mainly because you didn’t like that he won it at 65% of market? Just wondering since you mentioned that he “stole” it and was being a dick for not paying immediately. If he won ABOVE market for a nice lil profit, would you have cancelled so quickly? o_0 I couldn’t bother to read once it just turned to insults and threats :grin:

Good post. To expand on this, we should cross reference banned lists. The big boys on eBay that have long lists of banned sellers/buyers should post them, then we could store them in a pinned place like www.elitefourum.com/t/e4-master-ebay-seller-buyer-blacklist/15572/1. Then two or three times a year we could dump our large plain text lists, cross reference them, then add the differences to a master list. This isn’t perfect but it’s an idea. I want a better marketplace on eBay. I don’t want the electronic Wild West.

You should’ve given him the 48 hrs he is in right to pay in that time frame if you aren’t willing to wait 48hrs don’t put anything up on auction and just require immediate payments. The risk of auctions are non paying buyers and that wont go away. As soon as you guys start cursing and threatening each other is when it all blows up and ebay doesn’t tolerate that on their site. Bottom line is you should’ve given him the 48hrs after that follow the cancel policy.

Probably a consensus opinion but, not waiting the agreed apon 48hrs makes you the FIRST dick…though a lovable one lol.
He probably would have missed the deadline anyway so same result without all the aggravation;)

If you didnt want to sell it for such a low price, do a BIN and then do best offer. @smpratte does this for the majority of his items if not all… If someone gets it for a steal, your loss. I am one to attest to this since I could of made profit on some cards and items I have sold and it was crappy to sell it for cheap but it was my fault for not just being patient…

It was your decision to auction it and you created the risk to sell below market value. Just because you didn’t get as much as you want doesn’t mean someone has to pay sooner than a purchase price in your favor. You have no one to blame but yourself and you are missing out on a learning opportunity by letting it get to you rather than adjusting your sales plan. If you want a certain price, create a buy it now with or without best offer. The conversation that resulted was a waste of time and extremely childish.

I personally think this thread shows that not every situation is black and white. And discussing the shades of grey without getting into a dirty shouting match is a good way to understand Pokémon card transactions from both perspectives. It also shows that this platform is a place where people can be shown their mistakes and learn from it, instead of seeing them throwing a hissy fit and wasting a learning opportunity, like in so many other places on the internet.

I see value in these kinds of talks, but perhaps I’m the weird one here. :grin:

There is a benefit in that someone making a bogus claim is always super transparent. It basically says “block me, I’m a problematic business partner.”

@tnols , I don’t understand why you keep mencioning that he “stole” from you when in fact you were the one giving it away and then changing your mind on it.

People are allowed to take 48hours to pay for a reason, not everyone has a credit card connected with Paypal, some have to make transfers to their accounts and that takes time, some just log in on ebay every couple of days due to life circumstances, and so on. I would see your post more fit on the “sour grapes” thread through the buyer perspective than in here.

Getting back to what I believe was @funmonkey54 's intent on this thread. It is a long, but I guess you could call it in interesting read. We have our own @garyis2000 King_Pokemon and I have found the newly self proclaimed “negative feedback king”.

The following is our entire message history and I didn’t even realize the conversation with this clown went back all the way to October. Apparently I didn’t block him quick enough. Nothing removed nothing edited. He messaged about my 10 battling coin lots, as well as my complete battling coin collection but I’d imagine he buys cards too. S: will be me, sieds_steins and R: for rayfr0. Just put as assumed (sic) after every message of his since he clearly can’t spell anything and can’t be bothered to proofread anything.

R: r u serious, with 341.99? those coins r used. maybe 10 dollarts u have 2 come way down, on ur price. maybe even 20 dollars, but u have 2 be the seller, that I know u can b… think about ur buyers.

I don’t have unlimited amounts of all of them. Gathering specific coins takes more time too than just lotting together 10 of my more surplus coins. If I let anyone pick and choose I would be out of all the desirable ones within a day. People never want to pay enough more for choosing them either.

S:I never said I would do it. I simply asked what you needed. If it was a single coin and I could find it quickly I would do it. I’m not going to spend 45 minutes tearing open 10 pre made lots to maybe or maybe not find this long list of coins you need. Again… I likely don’t even have them.

I don’t have the time to sell individual coins to people who don’t want to pay a premium that is why I sell blind random lots.

I should mention that in the meantime he did leave positive feedback on the two random lots he bought.

“LIKE THE COINS.”

Then he recently followed it up with:

" THIS IS A NEGATIVE SELLER, WHO LIED ABOUT ME PICKING FUTURE COINS OF A LOT. BAD."

So I replied (using Rusty’s handy link)

“No need to yell. Sadly I am not the seller u know I can B. Maybe some day…”
